The Technology Zone is now open!
We’ll be updating this page over coming months as activities start to be booked in the zone.
Learn to code with a real software developer
From building app, to making video games – learning to code can be fun! It can also lead to a very good career! What many people don’t realise is that it also teaches other life skills. I’ve seen kids around 10 years olds doing algebra that would normally be GCSE level and they don’t even realise it, because to them, it’s just the scoring mechanism on their new game.
Dorset Robot Wars
Our surveys show that Robot Wars is the second most inspirational subject for children, behind space travel. We’ve embraced that and coupled with the Robot Wars themed Engineering Zone (sponsored by Rubicon Recruitment), the Technology zone allows people of all ages to design their robots in 3D and make them – ready for battle!
Real Career Skills
With the latest technology and the leading software, our volunteers can teach a large range of real life technology skills, including coding. Equipment highlights include:
- IT suite
- Adobe Creative Cloud software (photoshop, illustrator, etc)
- Virtual Reality
- Electronics (Including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, robot building, etc)
- 3D printer
